Stay out too long and you’ll freeze, unless you’ve upgraded your abilities to withstand it. But the cold is not alone. Eerie obsidian-black creatures prowl the drifts, each with unique behaviours and attacks. Mysterious anomaly zones offer deadly challenges with huge rewards. Use the snow as cover or blast it apart with flamethrowers and explosives to gain the upper hand.
Each run begins safely at your home, but the frozen wasteland beyond is full of choices:

Carry resources back to enable and upgrade your abilities: become a faster digger, tougher fighter, or more resistant to the cold.
